A Note from Your Nephrologist

Patients who understand their kidney disease do better.

Not just emotionally. Measurably. Over two decades of taking care of kidney patients, the single most consistent thing I have seen is this: when you understand what's happening inside your body, you take your medications more reliably, you catch sick days earlier, you avoid the things that quietly hurt your kidneys, and you make better choices about dialysis and transplant when the time comes. You ask sharper questions. You bring your family along. You stay healthier, longer.

Most kidney patients are still handed a photocopied pamphlet from years ago, or pointed to a generic website. You deserve more than that. Every interactive tool and educator on this page was built right here at NNH to help you understand your kidneys and take care of them. That includes Know Your Numbers, ModalityMatch, the Risk Zone heatmap, and a growing library of patient educators on blood pressure, salt and water, protein in the urine, NSAIDs, sick days, transplant, PKD, and more. Each one was shaped by thousands of real conversations I have had with CKD patients in clinic. They are not generic content. They are designed to feel like sitting across from me, going over your situation together: you enter your information, and we review it.

This is your home base. Make yourself comfortable, look around, and bring whatever you find back to your next visit. Activation costs nothing and works on every patient. That is a promise I plan to keep.
