Matt Cook was born and raised in small town Saranac Lake, NY. He graduated from Carleton University with an undergraduate degree in Biology and went on to do his graduate work at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY. Matt completed his clinical rotations in a number of central NY hospitals including Crouse Hospital, Upstate Medical, St. Joseph Medical Center and St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Before becoming a physician assistant Matt was a member of the US Nordic Combined Ski Team for several years. Nordic combined is the Scandinavian-born winter Olympic sport of ski jumping and cross-country skiing. Matt spent several winters training and competing in Europe and was internationally ranked among some of the most competitive athletes in the sport of Nordic combined.
Matt lives with his fiancé in beautiful Lake Placid, NY where they enjoy the Adirondack lifestyle of skiing, trail running, mountain biking and paddle boarding together. This last summer they completed their second Iron Man triathlon together in their Lake Placid back yard. In his spare time Matt enjoys building his timber frame home on a secluded 26-acre piece of property deep in the Adirondack forest.
